Which baby milestones should I track?

The big ones are enough: first social smile, rolling, sitting without support, getting around (crawling or another way of moving), first steps and first words. These are the milestones doctors ask about at check-ups.

At what age should my baby hit milestones?

The CDC checklists list what most babies (75% or more) can do by a given age, for example smiling at you by 2 months, rolling from tummy to back by 6 months, sitting without support by 9 months and taking a few steps by 15 months. Many babies reach them earlier, and the range is wide.

When should I worry about a missed milestone?

Talk to your baby's doctor or health visitor if your baby is not meeting one or more milestones, has lost skills they once had, or you have any other concerns. Acting early is always fine, even if it turns out to be nothing.
