7 Month Old Baby: Solids, Teeth & Milestones
A 7 month old guide on sleep, solids and new textures, first teeth, sitting, and early crawling, with tips on when to call. Educational, not medical advice.
How much should a 7 month old sleep?
The AAP recommends 12–16 hours in 24 hours, including naps, for babies 4–12 months. How that splits between naps and nights varies from baby to baby.
How much solid food does a 7 month old eat?
It varies a lot. Breast milk or formula is still the main drink until 12 months, and many babies gradually move toward three meals a day over the next few months. Some days they eat more, some less, and a new food can take 10 tries or more to get used to.
When do babies start crawling?
Crawling is usually mastered between 7 and 10 months, according to the AAP, and some babies never crawl — they scoot or slide instead. If you feel your baby isn't moving as you'd expect, for example not using both arms and legs, mention it to your pediatrician.
Is my 7 month old teething?
Most babies start teething at around 6 months, but some start before 4 months and some after 12 months. Sore, red gums, a slightly raised temperature under 100.4°F (38°C), and lots of chewing are common signs.
Can a 7 month old drink water?
Yes. From around 6 months, you can offer sips of water from an open or free-flow cup with meals. Cow's milk as a main drink waits until 12 months, and the AAP advises no juice before age 1.
What should I track at 7 months?
Solids and how each food went, milk feeds, sleep, diapers, and new teeth. Nurtura Daily keeps them in one place, ready to share at checkups.
