Nurtura Daily
How long should a baby bedtime routine be?
There is no official length. Many families find 20–30 minutes is enough for a few calm, predictable steps such as a bath or wash, fresh diaper and pajamas, a feed, a short book and a cuddle. Keeping the same order every night matters more than the exact length.
What should the last step of the bedtime routine be?
Laying your baby down safely: on their back, on a firm, flat mattress with nothing loose in the cot, in the same room as you for at least the first 6 months (NHS and AAP).
Should I put my baby to bed asleep or awake?
The AAP suggests putting babies to bed when they are drowsy rather than waiting until they are fully asleep. Some nights that won't happen, and that's okay.
