Can I use this calculator with any formula brand?

Yes. Enter the ratio printed on your tin. Scoop sizes differ by brand, so the label ratio is what matters.

How many scoops of formula for 6 oz?

It depends on your tin. At 1 scoop per 2 fl oz (common on US powders such as Similac) it is 3 scoops. At 1 scoop per 30 ml (common on UK powders such as Aptamil) a 6 oz / 180 ml bottle takes 6 scoops. Always follow the instructions on your tin.

How many scoops of formula for 4 oz?

2 scoops if your tin says 1 scoop per 2 fl oz, or 4 scoops if it says 1 scoop per 30 ml (120 ml). Check your tin's table.

How many scoops of formula for 5 oz?

At 1 scoop per 2 fl oz, 5 oz works out to 2½ scoops. The calculator keeps scoops whole, so it rounds to 3 scoops with 6 oz of water, or you can make a size your tin lists (such as 4 oz or 6 oz). At 1 scoop per 30 ml, 150 ml takes 5 scoops.

How many scoops of formula for 120 ml?

4 scoops if your tin says 1 scoop per 30 ml, or 2 scoops if it says 1 scoop per 60 ml. Check your tin's table.

How many scoops of formula for 150 ml?

Depends on the ratio. With 1 scoop per 30 ml, that is 5 scoops for 150 ml. With 1 scoop per 60 ml, it is not an even match: the calculator rounds to 3 scoops with 180 ml of water (or make 120 ml with 2 scoops).

What happens if my bottle size doesn’t match the ratio evenly?

The calculator rounds to the nearest whole level scoop and adjusts the water to match, so the strength stays the same. Do not guess with half scoops unless your tin explicitly allows it.

Why is it important to use level scoops?

Heaping scoops change the powder-to-water ratio. That can affect nutrition and digestion.

Does it support both ml and fl oz?

Yes. You can calculate in ml or fl oz, whichever your bottle shows. Switching units converts the amounts you already entered.

Can I prepare larger batches and store them?

The NHS recommends making up feeds one at a time as your baby needs them. The CDC says to use prepared formula within 2 hours (1 hour once feeding starts). Only mix larger amounts if your tin gives instructions for it and you can store it as directed.

Is this tool a replacement for medical advice?

No. It is a calculator for mixing math. For feeding concerns, talk to your pediatrician.
