Growth spurt 3-day plan: printable reset (0–6 months)
Build a one-page baby growth spurt plan: priorities, feeding by breast or formula, a short sleep reset, a day-by-day 3-day reset and red flags to print.
How long should I follow this plan?
For the few days the hungry, unsettled patch lasts. When appetite and sleep settle, use the 3-day reset to step back to your usual rhythm.
What if the rough patch lasts 5+ days?
Growth spurts are usually described as lasting a few days, so a longer run is more likely to be schedule pressure, the environment or something else. Reset wake windows, check the room's light, noise and temperature, and talk to your health visitor or doctor if you're worried.
Breast vs formula: does the plan change?
The feeding section does. Breastfed babies get on-demand feeds with evening clusters allowed; formula-fed babies get smaller, more frequent, paced bottles. The NHS advises not forcing a baby to take more than they want, as that can lead to overfeeding.
Is this a sleep training plan?
No. It's a short, supportive reset for a hunger-driven phase. It specifically suggests not starting a new sleep method during the spike.
Do I need the birth date?
No. The birth date only adds a window label and dates from a list of commonly reported growth spurt ages. The advice is built from the signs you enter.
My baby was born early. Which date should I use?
You can enter the due date instead of the birth date if you want the window to reflect corrected age, but the evidence on growth spurt timing is thin either way. Follow any feeding plan from your neonatal team or health visitor.
Can I use this with twins?
Yes. Build a separate plan for each baby, as their patterns can differ.
